Marine Fire Station for Port Georgetown as Fire Service gets $6.3B

A total of $6.3 billion has been allocated to strengthen the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), including the construction of a Marine Fire Station in Port Georgetown, according to Minister of Finance, Dr Ashni Singh.

Dr Singh said in 2025, five new fire stations were completed in Charity, Parika, Diamond, Soesdyke, and Wisroc, alongside upgrades to existing facilities and living quarters. In 2026, seven additional stations will be completed in Onderneeming, Campbelville, Ruimveldt, Timehri, Mahaicony, and Tarlogie, while fire stations will also be built in Rosignol and No. 38 Village.

The budget includes $1.6 billion for the procurement of firefighting equipment such as airport firefighting vehicles, water tenders, and bowsers, and $250 million for additional fire hydrants. A further $50 million is allocated for training personnel in basic and advanced firefighting techniques.
