More houselots, scholarships for women in 2026- Finance Minister

Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh told the National Assembly on Monday that women will receive massive support from the 2026 budget. He said women can expect to see continued investments in technical and entrepreneurial training through the Women Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN), the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) programmes, and GOAL scholarships.

Highlighting the impact of last year’s measures, Dr. Singh said during the reading of the 2026 budget that the government trained more than 6,600 women in technical and entrepreneurial skills via WIIN and BIT. He said too that women were awarded over 7,000 GOAL scholarships and received 6,350 house lots.

Additionally, the minister said the government facilitated more than 300 women-owned businesses at the “We Lift” event. That initiative was launched in 2021 to provide training and resources to women to achieve financial independence.

Dr. Singh said the 2026 budget will build on those gains by scaling up training, support for entrepreneurship and access to capital.

Overall, the 2026 agenda aims to broaden women’s participation in the economy, create sustainable livelihoods and strengthen women-led enterprises.
